NCAA Game Summary - Hawaii at Utah State

Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Diondre Borel throw a pair of touchdowns as the Utah State Aggies surprised the Hawaii Warriors, 30-14, in Western Athletic Conference action at Romney Stadium.

Borel, who also led the Aggies (2-7, 2-3 WAC) with 87 yards rushing on 14 attempts, connected on 14-of-19 passing for 223 yards and survived four sacks as the team snapped a four-game slide.

The Warriors (4-5, 3-3), losers of two of their last three, were led by Greg Alexander who not only threw for 186 yards and a touchdown, but also ran for 57 yards and a score.

Peter Caldwell began the day's scoring with the first of his three field goals, knocking through a 34-yard effort in the first quarter to give USU a 3-0 advantage heading into the second frame.

In the second Utah State added to its advantage with a 62-yard scoring pass from Borel to Nnamdi Gwacham, followed by a 34-yard field goal by Caldwell as time expired in the first half. However, in between Hawaii scored the first of its two touchdowns on a 34-yard pass from Alexander to Michael Washington.

Ahead by a score of 13-7 entering the third period, the Aggies scored another touchdown in the period when Robert Turbin reeled in a 23-yard pass from Borel to give USU a 13-point edge.

Hawaii closed the gap midway through the fourth when Alexander ran nine yards into the end zone on his own, but that was met with a 21-yard field goal by Caldwell and a six-yard TD run by Turbin with two minutes to play for the home team.

Utah State converted just 5-of-15 on third down on the day, but made good on both attempts on fourth down to keep drives alive and a win in its sights.
