Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Kellen Moore threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns, leading 11th-ranked Boise State to a 49-0 Western Athletic Conference blowout of New Mexico State
Kyle Wilson returned a punt 71 yards for a score for the Broncos (8-0, 4-0 WAC), who moved to 9-0 all-time against the Aggies. Moore completed 15-of-23 passes and was picked off once. Jeremy Childs had five catches for 84 yards and a pair of TDs, while Ian Johnson, D.J. Harper and Jeremy Avery added scoring runs.
"I thought our guys played hard. Our defense has been doing a good job all year, had another good game tonight," said Boise State coach Chris Petersen. "We had too many penalties for our liking, but our kids played hard and got it done."
Chase Holbrook connected on 12-of-20 passes for 64 yards and was picked off once for the Aggies (3-5, 1-3), who have lost three straight games. Holbrook was
"The same thing has happen the last two weeks, they knock Chase out and he can't play in the second half," said New Mexico State coach Hal Mumme. "Their defense is really tough."
Childs was wide open on the left side and waltzed into the end zone for a 14- yard play with seven minutes left in the opening quarter.
Alphonso Powell picked off Moore late in the first quarter, giving the Aggies the ball at the Boise State 24, but three plays later Holbrook was intercepted by Kyle Wilson
Johnson scored on the second play of the second quarter, an 11-yard run to the right side, as the senior broke a wave of tacklers before scoring.
On the ensuing play from scrimmage, NMSU wide receiver Chris Williams fumbled the ball away after making a catch, and Boise State took over at the Aggies 34. A short time later, Avery scored on a 10-yard run.
It became 28-0 on Moore's 23-yard TD pass to Austin Pettis with nearly 10 minutes remaining until halftime.
Moore threw 29 yards to Childs for a score early in the third, and in the final minute of the quarter Harper found the end zone on a run from five yards out.
Wilson returned a punt for a touchdown on the second play of the fourth quarter.
Boise State hosts Utah State next Saturday, while New Mexico State is at home against Hawaii...The Broncos had 495 yards of offense to 150 for the Aggies.
