Morgantown, WV (Sports Network) - Pat White threw a pair of touchdowns as he led the West Virginia Mountaineers to a convincing 27-3 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd in non-conference action at Milan Puskar Stadium.

White finished the contest 17-of-21 for 130 yards for the Mountaineers (2-2) as they snapped a brief two-game slide. White also picked up 61 yards rushing for a squad that posted 319 yards on the ground. Noel Devine generated a game- high 125 yards and scored once on 14 carries as well.

Marshall (3-2) struggled to find offensive production during the in-state battle as Mark Cann converted just 15-of-36 passing for 119 yards and an interception in the setback.

Devine put the Mountaineers on the board first in the opening frame when he made his way into the end zone from four yards out at the 10:11 mark of the period.

Less than four minutes later the Herd scored their only points of the day when Tyler Warner was brought on to kick a 34-yard field goal, cutting the score to 7-3.

A 21-yard touchdown reception by Dorrell Jalloh late in the second quarter pushed the WVU lead to 14-3 at the break.

In the third quarter White's five-yard TD pass to Jock Sanders boosted the advantage for the Mountaineers to 21-3. From there West Virginia cruised, picking up a couple of field goals (39 and 36 yards) from Pat McAfee to close out the 24-point triumph.

Marshall was limited to a mere 39 yards rushing on 25 attempts and just 158 yards of offense overall in the losing effort.
