Final Score: (7) Southern California 56, Washington 0
Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Mark Sanchez threw two touchdowns to Patrick Turner, and C.J. Gable had two rushing scores as the seventh-ranked USC Trojans notched a 56-0 blowout of the Washington Huskies at the Coliseum.
Sanchez threw for 167 yards on 15-of-19 passing and scored a rushing TD, while Turner had six receptions for 100 yards. Gable gained 108 yards on 10 carries for USC (7-1, 5-1 Pac-10), which survived a dogfight last Saturday with Pac 10-rival Arizona, 17-10.
The Trojans continue their quest for an unprecedented seventh consecutive Pac-10 title next Saturday with a home date against the Cal Bears.
USC is now riding a five-game winning streak and moved ahead of Oregon atop the league standings with Saturday's victory, coupled with the 23rd-ranked Ducks' loss to Cal earlier Saturday.
Ronnie Fouch was 14-of-33 for 113 yards and three interceptions for the Huskies (0-8, 0-5), whose winless season thus far has prompted a change at the top, as head coach Tyrone Willingham announced earlier in the week he is stepping down at the end of the season.
The Trojans scored on each of their first six possessions of the game while the Huskies recorded two first downs in the first half. USC had only one of its first-half scoring drives last over 3:28 and twice scored in 37 seconds or less.
Sanchez hit Turner on scoring strikes of four and 32 yards to start things off, and Gable made it 21-0 with a nine-yard score to close out the first quarter.
Sanchez scored from one-yard out on a keeper to open the second quarter and Fouch was intercepted at the Huskies' 16 just two plays later. The Trojans were back in the end zone in 37 seconds with Stafon Johnson's one-yard TD.
Gable's second score, this time from six yards, made it a 42-0 game before the half, which only delayed the inevitable, as Broderick Green scored on a five- yard run in the third, and Marc Tyler upped the score to 56-0 in the final stanza with a six-yard score.
USC has won the last seven meetings including a 27-24 nail-biter last September at Husky Stadium...D'Andre Goodwin led the Huskies in receiving with five grabs for 35 yards, while Brandon Johnson gained 54 yards on 18 carries in the loss...USC racked up 297 rushing yards with Tyler (85), Johnson (40) and Green (23) splitting carries in relief of Gable...Despite being held off the scoreboard, Washington had 13 first downs in the second half.
