NCAA Game Summary - Washington State at Stanford

(Saturday, November 1st)

Final Score: Stanford 58, Washington State 0

Stanford, CA (Sports Network) - Toby Gerhart ran for 132 yards and tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns -- all in the first half -- as the Stanford Cardinal rolled to a 58-0 win over Pac-10 foe Washington State.

Anthony Kimble added 92 yards and a touchdown for the Cardinal (5-4, 4-2 Pac-10), who notched seven rushing touchdowns for the game.

Washington State (1-8, 0-6) was not able to overcome four first-half turnovers, including two interceptions by Kevin Lopina.

Aaron Zagory got Stanford on the board first with a 39-yard field goal at the 8:38 mark of the opening quarter.

Gerhart took control from there, beginning with a six-yard touchdown run with 6:17 remaining in the first quarter.

He scored on runs of four, eight and two yards in the second quarter, as Stanford took a 31-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Cardinal added to their lead early in the third quarter, when Tavita Pritchard connected with Josh Catron for a five-yard touchdown pass.

The Cougars then went three-and-out and had to punt. On first down of the ensuing possession, Kimble broke loose for a 62-yard touchdown run.

Stanford's Alex Loukas scored on a 17-yard run later in the third quarter, and Delano Howell added a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Stanford shook off poor weather conditions for its largest margin of victory since a 63-0 win over Idaho in 1949.
