(Saturday, September 13th) Final Score: T-C-U 31, Stanford 14 Fort Worth, TX (Sports Network) - Andy Dalton threw for 145 yards and ran for 91 more to lead the TCU Horned Frogs to a 31-14 victory over the Stanford Cardinal in a non-league matchup at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Dalton completed 20-of-36 passes to pace TCU (3-0) in the victory, while Ryan Christian added 82 yards and a score on the ground for the Horned Frogs. Stanford quarterback Tavita Pritchard completed just 11-of-21 for 122 yards and no touchdowns in the Cardinal (1-2) loss. TCU took a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter with a one-yard plunge from Justin Watts. The Horned Frogs made it 14-0 early in the second period, as Jeremy Kerley found the end zone following a three-yard scamper. Stanford finally put itself on the scoreboard midway through the frame, as Doug Baldwin broke loose for a 38-yard scoring scamper. The Cardinal tied the contest just minutes later, as Richard Sherman returned a blocked punt 21 yards for a touchdown. TCU regained the lead late in the third quarter with a one-yard run from Christian. Ross Evans added to the TCU lead late in the final period of play with a 23- yard field goal. The Horned Frogs capped off an impressive afternoon just minutes later, as Dalton ran into the end zone from 10 yards out to give TCU a 31-14 victory. 09/13 19:10:28 ET |
