Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Nate Longshore celebrated his return to the starting lineup with 198 yards and three touchdowns passing, as the California Golden Bears knocked off Pac-10 foe Arizona State, 24-14 at Memorial Stadium.
In an attempt to re-ignite a stagnant offense, coach Jeff Tedford did not announce Longshore as his starting quarterback until pregame introductions. Shane Vereen carried 27 times for 93 yards for the Golden Bears (4-1, 2-0 Pac-10).
For ASU (2-3, 1-1), Rudy Carpenter completed 20-of-35 passes for 165 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Four minutes later, they took a 10-0 lead on Longshore's 19-yard touchdown pass to LaReylle Cunningham.
Longshore hooked up with Cameron Morrah at the 12:28 mark of the second quarter to make it a 17-0 game.
