Final Score: (13) Missouri 41, Kansas State 24
Columbia, MO (Sports Network) - Jeremy Maclin caught eight passes for 118 yards and a pair of scores, and also rumbled 56 yards for another touchdown, as 13th-ranked Missouri rolled to its third straight victory, 41-24, over Kansas State.
Chase Daniel completed 24-of-36 passes for 271 yards and a pair of scores against two interceptions for Missouri (8-2, 4-2 Big 12), which plays at Iowa State next Saturday before taking on Kansas in the final regular season game on November 29. The Tigers are a game ahead of the Jayhawks for the lead in the Big 12 North Division.
"If we beat Iowa State that's great, but we don't go in there thinking that we can just sit there and play and win the game," said Maclin. "We want to win out, that's our goal. We control our own destiny and we're not worried about everyone else, we're just worried about getting our job done."
Josh Freeman connected on 18-of-36 passes for 121 yards for the Wildcats (4-6, 1-5), who have lost four in a row. Brandon Banks scored on a 93-yard run and caught a touchdown pass in defeat.
"For three years we've played pretty solidly in the first half defensively against these guys," said Kansas State coach Ron Prince, who won't be back after this season. "They just have too many playmakers. They have a great team, the winningest class that's been through this program."
Derrick Washington scored on a six-yard run with under four minutes left in the opening quarter and a 32-yard field goal by Jeff Wolfert moved the advantage to 10-0 midway through the second.
Daniel hit Maclin on a 42-yard TD pass with 3:16 remaining in the half, and the two made another scoring connection, this time from 16 yards away with 1 1/2 minutes left in the half for a 24-0 difference.
Brooks Rossman's 43-yard field goal on the final play of the half finally got Kansas State on the scoreboard, but Missouri scored on its first possession of the third on a Wolfert 24-yard field goal.
It became 27-10 on Freeman's five-yard run with 25 seconds left in the third, but on the first play of the fourth, Maclin rumbled down the right sideline for a 56-yard score off a direct snap.
Chase Patton found Jared Perry from 14 yards out for another TD with 6:33 remaining.
Banks broke through the line for his touchdown run with just over a minute remaining. The Wildcats got the ensuing onsides kick and Coffman connected with Banks for a four-yard scoring pass.
