NCAA Game Summary - Florida Atlantic at Michigan State

(Saturday, September 13th)

Final Score: Michigan State 17, Florida Atlantic 0

East Lansing, MI (Sports Network) - Javon Ringer gained a career-high 282 yards on 43 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the Michigan State Spartans to a 17-0 victory over the Florida Atlantic Owls at Spartan Stadium.

Ringer's dominating performance left little for Brian Hoyer to do, as the signal-caller completed just 5-of-15 attempts for 88 yards in the Michigan State (2-1) win.

Rusty Smith threw for 143 yards on a woeful 8-of-34 passing for FAU (1-2), while Charles Pierre gained 57 yards on the ground in the losing effort. To the defense of both quarterbacks, near monsoon conditions made passing awfully difficult.

The only points of the first half came on a 21-yard touchdown run by Ringer in the second quarter.

Brett Swenson connected on a 22-yard field goal midway through the third quarter to make it a 10-0 Michigan State lead.

Ringer padded the Spartan advantage early in the final frame with an 11-yard touchdown run.
