Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Ben Chappell threw for 219 yards and one touchdown to lead the Indiana Hoosiers to a thrilling, 21-19 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats in a Big Ten battle at Memorial Stadium.

Chappell also scored a rushing touchdown for Indiana (3-5, 1-4 BigTen), while Tandon Doss led the receiving corps with eight receptions, 107 yards and one score.

Tyrell Sutton led Northwestern with 77 yards and one touchdown on the ground (6-2, 2-2), while quarterback C. J. Bacher added 64 rushing yards and one TD. Unfortunately Bacher struggled with his arm, throwing for just 155 yards and two interceptions.

The Wildcats took a 3-0 lead midway through the first quarter with a 25-yard field goal by Amado Villarreal.

The Hoosiers took over late in the first frame when Chappell hit Damarlo Belcher with a 43-yard scoring strike.

Sutton's one-yard plunge midway through the second stanza put the Wildcats back on top, but a missed extra point left the score at 9-7.

With just seconds remaining in the first half Indiana regained the lead with a three-yard touchdown run by Chappell.

Northwestern cut its deficit to 14-12 midway through the third quarter when Villarreal nailed a 26-yard field goal.

Less than two minutes later the Hoosiers extended their lead to 21-12 with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Mitchell Evans to Doss.

However, the Wildcats answered back instantly, as Bacher scored on a three- yard run. Unfortunately Northwestern would come no closer, as Indiana held on for the slim win.
