Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Jewel Hampton ran for 114 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Iowa Hawkeyes to a 45-9 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in a lopsided Big Ten Conference showdown at Memorial Stadium.
Ricky Stanzi completed 12-of-20 pass attempts for 184 yards and two touchdowns for the Hawkeyes (4-3, 1-2 BigTen), while Shonn Greene added 115 yards and a score on the ground in the victory.
Kellen Lewis threw for just 108 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the loss for Indiana (2-4, 0-3).
Trent Mossbrucker hit a 26-yard field goal early in the first quarter to give Iowa the lead.
Midway through the opening quarter the Hawkeyes extended their advantage behind a one-yard touchdown run by Hampton.
An Austin Starr 46-yard field goal late in the first frame put Indiana on the board.
Greene scurried 12 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter and Iowa held a 17-3 advantage.
With just 30 seconds left before the break, Indiana cut its deficit with a Lewis 17-yard touchdown pass to Ray Fisher. The extra-point attempt, though, was off the mark and the Hoosiers were down 17-9 at the half.
Iowa jumped out quickly in the second half, as Stanzi threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Andy Brodell just minutes into the third quarter.
Stanzi struck again midway through the frame, hitting Brandon Myers with a 20- yard strike to extend the Iowa lead to 31-9.
A 10-yard touchdown run by Hampton early in the final period gave the Hawkeyes a 38-9 lead.
Hampton found the end zone yet again on a one-yard plunge with under a minute remaining in the contest to account for the final score of the game.
Iowa rolled up 422 total yards, including 227 on the ground, in the victory.
