Final Score: North Carolina 28, Miami 24
Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Cameron Sexton's 14-yard touchdown pass to Brooks Foster with 46 seconds remaining gave the North Carolina Tar Heels a 28-24 road win at ACC rival Miami.
Early in the game, Sexton stepped in for an ineffective Mike Paulus, who had been given the starting job with T.J. Yates out six weeks due to a broken left ankle. Sexton completed 11-of-19 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns for the Tar Heels (3-1, 1-1 ACC)
Robert Marve went 18-of-27 for 135 yards, three TDs and two INTs for Miami (2-2, 0-1). Graig Cooper highlighted the ground game with 110 yards on 19 carries.
Miami marched right down the field on its opening drive, with Marve hooking up with Kayne Farquharson for a nine-yard scoring strike.
Later in the quarter, Tar Heels punter Terrence Brown fumbled the ball away deep in UNC territory. Three plays later, the Hurricanes took a 14-0 lead when Marve found Cooper for an 11-yard touchdown pass.
UNC got on the scoreboard at the 12:49 mark of the second quarter, when Greg Little crossed the goal line on a six-yard run.
Miami kicker Matt Bosher booted a 34-yard field goal with 5:07 remaining in the half to give the Canes a 17-7 lead.
UNC's Ryan Houston accounted for the only points of the third quarter on a two-yard touchdown run.
But with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game, Marve hooked up with Aldarius Johnson for a four-yard touchdown pass to put Miami ahead by 10.
Three plays later, Sexton found Hakeem Nicks for a momentum-changing, 74-yard touchdown pass. Sexton was able to keep his composure by engineering the game- winning drive in the final minutes.
