NCAA Game Summary - Duke at Vanderbilt

(Saturday, October 25th)

Final Score: Duke 10, Vanderbilt 7

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Thaddeus Lewis threw for 222 yards and a score to lead the Duke Blue Devils to a hard-fought, 10-7 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores in a non-conference tilt at Vanderbilt Stadium.

Eron Riley hauled in nine passes for 83 yards in the Duke (4-3) win, while Tony Jackson grabbed three balls for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Mackenzi Adams completed just 14-of-31 passes for 210 yards and two costly interceptions for Vanderbilt (5-3). Sean Walker tallied six catches for 138 yards and a score for the Commodores.

Defense prevailed for most of the contest, until Lewis and Jackson hooked up for a 22-yard touchdown connection to give Duke a 7-0 lead with less than a minute remaining in the first half.

The Blue Devils added to their lead on a Nick Maggio 42-yard field goal midway through the third quarter, which turned out to be the deciding score.

Vanderbilt finally got on the board early in the fourth quarter, following a 79-yard strike from Adams to Walker. But the Blue Devils defense hung tight the rest of the way.

Duke was held to just 28 rushing yards (0.8 ypc) for the game.
