Columbia, SC (Sports Network) - K.J. McDaniels tallied 16 points, seven rebounds, and five blocks as the Clemson Tigers took down the South Carolina Gamecocks, 64-55, in an intrastate rivalry matchup at Colonial Life Arena.
Rod Hall added 15 points for Clemson (5-2), while Devin Booker chipped in 13 points and eight boards.
For South Carolina (5-3), Brenton Williams shot 5-of-11 from the field for 16 points. Bruce Ellington and Mindaugas Kacinas scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. The Gamecocks' starting five combined to score just 14 points.
Clemson took a slim 28-27 lead into intermission. The Tigers shot 45.5 percent from the field in the first half while the Gamecocks made good on just 37.5 percent of their field goal attempts, but South Carolina was able to keep it close by connecting on 8-of-12 from the foul line.
South Carolina took a 31-28 lead early in the second half on a Lakeem Jackson jumper, but Clemson responded with a 13-2 run to regain the advantage. The Gamecocks never got within three points of the lead from that point on.
Clemson scored 23 points off of 19 South Carolina turnovers.
