Norfolk, VA ( - Reggie Lewis scored 18 points and hit 4-of-9 from 3-point distance as the sixth-seeded Florida A&M Rattlers outlasted the 11th-seeded Delaware State Hornets, 65-61, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament opening round clash at the Norfolk Scope Arena.

Jamie Adams contributed 15 points for Florida A&M (14-17), and Jamari Bradshaw chipped in 12 points in the win. The Rattlers advance to the MEAC Tournament's quarterfinal round, where they'll battle with the third-seeded Morgan State Bears on Thursday.

Casey Walker led Delaware State (9-21) with 16 points, connecting on 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Kendall Gray netted 13 points with seven rebounds, and DeAndre Haywood tallied 10 with a team-high eight boards in the loss. The Hornets finish their season having dropped their last three games.

Delaware State took a 36-31 lead over Florida A&M at the intermission, but the Rattlers overcame the deficit in the second frame by outscoring the Hornets, 34-25. Florida A&M shot 42.3 percent from the floor in the contest, while Delaware State hit just 36.2 percent of its field goal tries.

The Rattlers outscored the Hornets from beyond the arc, 27-15, and forced 15 Delaware State turnovers. The Hornets had the edge in makes at the free-throw line, 22-12.
