College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Led by a game-high 28 points by Elston Turner, the Texas A&M Aggies downed the South Carolina Gamecocks, 74-56, in an SEC battle at Reed Arena.
For the Aggies (17-12, 7-9 SEC), Ray Turner added 16 points and Fabyon Harris chipped in with 12 points.
Michael Carrera led the Gamecocks (13-16, 3-13) with 16 points and nine rebounds and Bruce Ellington finished with 10 points and six assists.
The teams went into halftime knotted at 32-32. South Carolina shot 47.8 percent from the field, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range. Texas A&M connected on 50 percent of its field goal tries and 4-of-9 from 3-point range.
After the break, the Aggies were red-hot from the floor, draining 57.7 percent of their field goal tries and 3-of-6 from 3-point distance. The Gamecocks were held to just 29.2 percent from the field. After falling behind 36-32 early in the second half, the Aggies ran off 14 straight points to go ahead by double digits, eventually pushing their lead to as many as 20 points, as they cruised to victory.
The Gamecocks outrebounded the Aggies, 34-26 and had the edge on points in the paint, 34-18.
