GAMES NOTES: In the second half of a short two-game homestand the Colorado Buffaloes will play host to the California Golden Bears in a Pac-12 Conference conflict at Coors Events Center.

This game will wrap up a three-game road trip for California which is coming off a 62-57 win over Utah. If the Golden Bears manage a victory in this contest it will be the 100th for Mike Montgomery as head coach of the program. The victory against Utah was the second in the last three games for the Golden Bears who are 11-7 overall this season but below .500 in league action (3-4). The Golden Bears have split six road matchups this season. California will play its next two games at home beginning against Oregon State.

Colorado earned a convincing 75-54 win over Stanford on Thursday to earn its second straight win. Its the first time that the Buffaloes have been able to put multiple wins together since a three-game winning streak at the end of December. The win over Stanford improved the Buffaloes to 13-6 overall and 2-3 in league play. In 10 games at the Coors Events Center the Buffaloes have earned eight wins. Colorado plays three straight on the road after this beginning against Utah.

Last season Colorado knocked California out of the Pac-12 Tournament to grab its fifth victory in the last six meetings between these programs. California still holds a slim 10-9 advantage in the all-time series.

California got out to a 32-22 lead at halftime against Utah and was able to hold on in the second half by holding the Utes to just 37.9 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes. Yet again Allen Crabbe carried the Golden Bears as he scored a game-high 23 points.

Crabbe (19.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg) has had a stellar season as he leads the conference in scoring. The 6-foot-6 guard has scored at least 20 points in 10 games this season including the 23 points against Utah. Although he was held to just six points against Utah, Justin Cobbs (14.3 ppg, 4.1 apg) has generally been a very effective second option. The Golden Bears really lean on Crabbe and Cobbs as each plays more than 35 minutes per game, while no other player clocks more than 30. The Golden Bears are in the bottom half of the Pac-12 in scoring (68.3 ppg) but by holding teams to just 39.1 percent shooting have been able to earn a positive scoring margin (+3.4).

Colorado absolutely dominated Stanford. The Buffaloes held the Cardinal to just 31.1 percent shooting, while managing to net 52.6 percent of their field goal attempts. Colorado had five players in double figures in the game, while owning a 48-30 edge in rebounds.

The Buffaloes have made a habit of spreading the ball around this season. Spencer Dinwiddie (14.4 ppg) is the lead scorer on a team that features four players in double figures. Askia Booker (14.1 ppg) teams with Dinwiddie in the backcourt as the second best scoring option. In the frontcourt double-double machine Andre Roberson (10.6 ppg, 11.9 rpg) and Josh Scott (12.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg) are the most productive contributors. Roberson has been especially so as he leads the nation in rebounding while ranking in the top 10 in the Pac-12 in steals (2.1 pg) and blocks (1.5 pg). Roberson has helped Colorado become the second best rebounding team in the conference (38.8 pg), while the Buffaloes limit foes to less than 40 percent shooting.

Colorado looks to be picking up steam and should be able to put together another strong effort in this contest. Crabbe's explosive offensive ability can keep California in games but that can only carry the Golden Bears so far.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Colorado 75, California 65
