Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Langston Galloway shot 5-of-10 from 3- point range for 15 points to lead the Saint Joseph's Hawks to a 59-49 win over the Xavier Musketeers in an Atlantic 10 showdown at Hagan Arena.
Carl Jones and Halil Kanacevic also scored 15 points for the Hawks (11-7, 2-3 A-10), while C.J. Aiken brought down 10 rebounds.
Freshman Semaj Christon led the way for Xavier (11-8, 2-3) with 16 points but shot just 8-of-21 from the field. Travis Taylor added 10 points, and Jeff Robinson went for eight points and 10 boards.
The home team led 30-26 at halftime after holding Xavier to 35.5 percent shooting in the first half. The Hawks led by as many as eight but late buckets by Dee Davis and Robinson cut the Xavier deficit in half before intermission
A Robinson dunk capped a 9-0 Xavier run to open the second half and gave the Musketeers a 35-30 advantage. They remained ahead for most of the second half until free throws by Jones tied the score at 47-47. Moments later, Galloway drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Hawks ahead for good. Xavier failed to score in the final 3:58 of action.
The Musketeers shot just 1-of-13 from behind the arc, while Saint Joseph's knocked down 10 outside shots. Despite the loss, Xavier still leads the all- time series, 17-12.
