GAME NOTES: The Fairfield Stags play just their second home game of the season on Wednesday, as they entertain the Milwaukee Panthers in non-conference action at Webster Bank Arena.

Fairfield, which has played a total of nine games on the road and on neutral floors, is playing the first of back-to-back home dates on Wednesday before going up against Drexel this coming weekend. The team is coming off a 65-52 win over Rider in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Sunday, giving the Stags two wins in the last three outings overall.

As for the Panthers, they have won just three games in 10 chances and all of them have come at home, which means winning on the road is a huge challenge. Not only did Milwaukee again fall by double digits over the weekend at DePaul, the squad was crushed by the Blue Demons in an 84-50 final at Allstate Arena, which means the Panthers have now gone down in six of their last seven outings overall.

According to Milwaukee's records, the Panthers own a 2-1 edge in the all-time series with Fairfield after posting a 67-63 win at home back in February.

Hard to believe, but the Panthers actually led by four points early in the meeting with DePaul on Sunday before having their doors blown off by 34 points. Milwaukee shot just 16-of-62 (.258) from the field and that included an awful 1-of-17 (.059) effort behind the three-point line. The team did well to hold DePaul to just 2-of-15 shooting on the perimeter, but that made very little difference in the outcome. Paris Gulley was the lone double-digit scorer for the visitors with his 14 points, shooting just 6-of-18 from the floor, yet that was still better than the rest of the starters who combined to make 5-of-27. Gulley has only been back in action for four games, but already his presence can be felt as he leads the team in scoring with 18.8 ppg, playing 37 minutes per outing. Jordan Aaron checks in with another 15.5 ppg and is also first with four and a half assists per contest, which helps to balance out his mere 38.5 percent shooting from the floor. As a team, Milwaukee has connected on only 37.8 percent from the field.

If the Panthers thought their last outing was one they'd like to forget, they need only look at the box score from Fairfield's meeting with Rider as the Stags fumbled the ball away 23 times and the teams combined for an unhealthy 54 miscues over the course of 40 minutes. Maurice Barrow came off the bench for the Stags to register a double-double consisting of 13 points and a game- high 10 rebounds, his point total being matched by Colin Nickerson who knocked down 6-of-9 shots from the floor. Derek Needham chipped in with 12 points, but in his case he converted just 2-of-9 beyond the arc and 5-of-15 from the field overall. Despite his lackluster shooting effort against the Broncs, Needham is still the leading scorer overall for the Stags with his 14.0 ppg. Fairfield is scoring just 63.1 ppg at the moment, with much of that having to do with the mix-and-match nature of the starting lineup through the first 10 games. Including Needham, the only other player who has started every game is Keith Matthews (7.8 ppg) and with him having handed out just four assists during the stretch, there's no guarantee he'll be there for long.

Both of these teams are coming off disappointing outings, although the Stags actually won their contest which is rather hard to believe. Assuming that Gulley can get his teammates to step up and play harder on Wednesday, Milwaukee could get that elusive road win it needs for some confidence moving forward.
