NCAA Game Summary - Akron vs. UNC-Asheville (Friday, November 16th) Final Score: Akron 82, UNC-Asheville 63 Bayamon, PR (Sports Network) - Chauncey Gilliam scored 22 points while connecting on five 3-pointers to lead Akron past UNC-Asheville, 82-63, in the consolation round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Alex Abreu added 12 points and nine assists for the Zips (2-2), who were coming off a 69-65 overtime loss to Oklahoma State on Thursday. Keith Hornsby dropped in 22 points to pace UNC-Asheville (1-3), which lost its third straight. Jeremy Atkinson contributed 10 points in defeat. UNC-Asheville, which did not hold a lead throughout the entire game, managed to keep Akron in striking distance over the opening 20 minutes before closing out the first half with an 8-1 run to cut its deficit to 37-34 entering the break. After a 9-2 push by the Bulldogs brought them back within 49-45 less than five minutes into the second half, Gilliam scored nine points in a 12-2 run that gave the Zips a comfortable 61-47 advantage.
