Former UC star Jack Twyman dies

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Former University of Cincinnati legend and Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame inductee Jack Twyman passed away Wednesday due to complications of blood cancer. He was 78.

Twyman finished his collegiate career with 1,598 points and 1,242 rebounds and was selected with the eighth pick in the 1955 NBA Draft by the Rochester Royals.

"The Bearcat family lost one of our legends yesterday with the passing of Jack Twyman," said director of athletics Whit Babcock. "He was a true gentleman, a great man who loved UC. He will be missed. He supported his alma mater in every facet. He was an icon. The name 'Jack Twyman' will forever be associated with our university and a golden era of UC athletics."

During his 11-year NBA career, two with Rochester and nine with Cincinnati, the 1983 Hall of Fame inductee and six-time NBA All Star averaged 19.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
