NCAA Game Summary - Rice at Louisiana

Final Score: Rice 68, Louisiana 63

Louisiana, LA (Sports Network) - Connor Frizzelle dropped in 18 points to lead the Rice Owls to a 66-63 victory over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at the Cajun Dome in the first round of the Postseason Tournament.

Tamir Jackson scored 11 points and handed out a game-high four assists as well for Rice (18-15) which also got 10 points a piece from Julian DeBose and Dylan Ennis. Arsalan Kazemi led the Owls to a 36-34 advantage on the boards with a game high 12 rebounds while DeBose collected four steals.

Josh Brown put in a game-high 22 points for Louisiana (16-16) while Alan- Michael Thompson added 11. Elfrid Payton and Bryant Mbamalu each brought down seven rebounds as well for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Rice led by just a single point, 33-32, at the half after shooting at a 41.4 percent clip. The Owls neutralized the Ragin' Cajuns superior 46.7percent effort by outscoring Louisiana 12-9 from beyond the arc and 5-1 from the free throw line.

The game went back and forth for most of the second half with Louisiana leading 54-51 with just over six minutes to play. The Owls then ripped off 12 unanswered points to pull ahead 63-54 with just over a minute left on the clock and by hitting it's free throws in the final minute closed out the win.

Louisiana connected on only 28.6 percent of its shots after the half. Rice blocked six shots and overcame a game-high 19 turnovers in the win.

Rice will await the outcome of the remaining first round matchups to determine it's second round opponent.
