NCAA Game Summary - Stanford vs. California

(Thursday, March 8th)

Final Score: California 77, Stanford 71

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jorge Gutierrez scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half, pacing California to a 77-71 win over Stanford in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament.

Harper Kamp added 17 points for the second-seeded Golden Bears (24-8), who will take on Colorado in the semifinals on Friday. Justin Cobbs had 15 points, Allen Crabbe 11 and David Kravish 10 for California, which shot a sizzling 15-of-26 in the second half.

California avenged a 75-70 loss at Stanford on March 4.

Andrew Zimmermann had 22 points and Chasson Randle chipped in 19 for No. 7 seed Stanford (21-11), which will await Sunday to see if the Cardinal can gain an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinal finished shooting 37.7 percent from the field.

Aaron Bright's bucket at the buzzer gave Stanford a 30-23 halftime lead, but Cal scored nine in a row early in the second half for a 38-33 advantage.

A Zimmermann jumper had the game even at 62 with five minutes to go, but Crabbe and Gutierrez converted layups to start California's run of eight straight points. Cobbs finished it with four free throws.

It was at least a two-possession game the rest of the way.

Stanford lost despite having a 21-4 edge in points off turnovers. The big difference was the disparity in the second half shooting. Stanford went 13-of-34 over the final 20 minutes.
