Stanford, CA (Sports Network) - Chasson Randle scored 17 points as the Stanford Cardinal toppled the California Golden Bears 75-70 in a Pac-12 regular season finale at Maples Pavilion.
Andrew Zimmerman had 13 points, Aaron Bright put in 12 and Anthony Brown finished with 10 for Stanford (20-10, 10-8 Pac-12) which had lost two of its previous three contests.
California (23-8, 13-5) got 20 points from Allen Crabbe, 19 from Harper Kamp while David Kravish put in 13 to go with eight rebounds and Jorge Gutierrez handed out eight assists. The Golden Bears could have clinched a share of the Pac-12 regular season title with a win.
Stanford led 39-34 at the half by shooting 46.7 percent from the floor including 5-of-9 from three point range while California connected on just 36.7 percent of its first half field goal attempts including 2-of-9 from beyond the arc.
The Golden Bears trailed the entire second half but cut the deficit to two, 72-70, with just over a minute left. The Cardinal then went 3-for-6 from the foul line in the final minute which was enough to outlast the Golden Bears.
Stanford outscored California by a 20-4 margin on points off of turnovers and won despite a 37-33 deficit on the boards.
