(Saturday, March 3)

Final Score: Memphis 78, Tulsa 66

Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Will Barton poured in a career-high 30 points, as the Memphis Tigers claimed the outright Conference USA regular-season title with a 78-66 win over Tulsa at the Reynolds Center.

Barton shot 12-of-17 from the floor and also added nine rebounds and three steals to his stat line. Joe Jackson added 16 points, while Wesley Witherspoon finished with 13 points and nine boards for the Tigers (23-8, 13-3 C-USA), who won for the 17th time in their last 20 games.

The Golden Hurricane (17-13, 10-6) certainly did not play like a team that has earned a first-round bye in next week's conference tournament. Jordan Clarkson paced three players in double figures with 18 points, but Tulsa was unable to overcome a huge second-half run by the Tigers.

Memphis shot a solid 56 percent from the floor in the first half, although Tulsa closed the period with an 18-8 spurt to trail 37-34 at intermission.

The Tigers used an 18-3 run to open the second half and take control of the game. Tulsa trailed by as many as 25 with under seven minutes to play before making a late push

Memphis' last seven victories have been by an average margin of 21 points, as the Tigers will bring a full head of steam into the conference tourney, which is being held at their own FedExForum. Barton, the conference's leading scorer, went over 1,000 points for his career.
