NCAA Game Summary - Southern Illinois vs. Indiana State (Thursday, March 1st) Final Score: Indiana State 66, Southern Illinois 51 St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Jake Odum scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Indiana State Sycamores to a 66-51 victory over the Southern Illinois Salukis in first-round action of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at the Scottrade Center. Dwayne Lathan added 15 points to help pace the eighth-seeded Sycamores (18-13), while Myles Walker contributed 12 points. Mamadou Seck finished with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way for ninth-seeded SIU (8-23), which also got 12 and 10 points from Kendal Brown-Surles and Justin Bocot, respectively. The Salukis were held to a paltry 25.1 percent from the field during the opening stanza, allowing ISU to take a 30-23 lead into the break. The Sycamores then shot at a 57.1 percent clip over the final 20 minutes of play en route to the 15-point win. Indiana State, which forced 16 turnovers and held SIU to a mere 3-of-12 shooting behind the three-point line, will face No. 1 seed Wichita State in the quarterfinals on Friday. 03/01 22:37:45 ET |
