NCAA Game Summary - Rice at Texas-El Paso

El Paso, Texas (Sports Network) - Arsalan Kazemi had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds to lift the Rice Owls to a 68-61 win over the Texas-El Paso Miners in Conference USA action at the Don Haskins Center.
Connor Frizzelle also had 12 points and Jarelle Reischel and Ahmad Ibrahim each added 10 for Rice (17-13, 8-7 C-USA) which had lost two of its previous three.
Gabriel McCulley paced Texas-El Paso (14-15, 7-8) with 17 points while John Bohannon added 13 and Julian Washburn got in the mix with 12. The Miners have not lost back-to-back games after a four game winning streak.
Texas-El Paso led by a slim 29-27 margin at the break after shooting 44.0 percent from the floor which was just better than Rice who connected on an even 40.0 percent.
Rice ripped off an 18-7 run to turn a 39-38 deficit into a 56-45 lead with 3:32 remaining. The Miners were able to bring the score back to within two (58-56) with just over a minute remaining but the Owls hung on by going 6-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minute.
Rice had a 38-34 edge in rebounds and shot 40.8 percent from for the game while Texas-El Paso finished at just 36.4 percent.
