Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Led by 16 points from Jordon Crawford, the Bowling Green Falcons downed the Miami-Ohio RedHawks, 56-51, in a Mid- American Conference battle at the Stroh Center.
For the Falcons (16-13, 9-6 MAC), A'uston Calhoun added 15 points, Dee Brown scored 11 points, and Scott Thomas had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Julian Mavunga led the RedHawks (9-19, 5-10) with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Drew McGhee finished with 13 points off the bench. Jon Harris scored 11 points and Quinten Rollins added 10 points in the losing effort.
Both teams shot well to open the contest. Bowling Green hit on 48 percent of its field goals, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Miami topped that, making 52.4 percent of its shots from the floor, including 3-of-8 from three-point distance to take a 30-27 lead into halftime.
After the break, the teams cooled off from the field. The Falcons shot 40 percent, including 3-of-9 from long distance. The RedHawks were little better, at 41.7 percent, but connected on only 2-of-12 of their three-point attempts. With the game tied at 49-49 with just under three minutes to play, the Falcons ran off six straight points and managed to hang on for the victory.
Bowling Green scored 13 points off of 11 Miami turnovers. The Falcons held a slight edge on the boards, 30-26.
