Final Score: East Carolina 69, Marshall 68 (OT)
Greenville, NC (Sports Network) - Darrius Morrow scored 27 points and pulled down eight rebounds, as East Carolina edge Marshall, 69-68, in overtime at Minges Coliseum.
Maurice Kemp added 10 points and eight boards for the Pirates (13-15, 4-11 C- USA), who snapped a five-game slide.
Damier Pitts and DeAndre Kane each had 17 points for Marshall (17-12, 8-7), which has lost back-to-back contests after winning three in a row. Dennis Tinnon tallied nine points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Shaquille Johnson scored 10 in defeat.
Johnson's layup with 1:07 left in regulation tied the game at 63, eventually forcing overtime, only when Miguel Paul missed a jumper at the buzzer for East Carolina.
Morrow drained four early free throws in the extra session, but Johnson's three-ball cut the margin to one with 1.9 seconds left. It wasn't enough for the Thundering Herd.
Marshall, which shot 58.6 percent in the first half, was hurt by 20 turnovers in the game. That led to 24 ECU points.
