Santa Barbara, CA (Sports Network) - James Nunnally scored a game-high 20 points as UC Santa Barbara registered a 68-60 win over Cal Poly in Big West Conference play at the Thunderdome.
Also scoring in double figures for the Gauchos (16-9, 10-4) was Orlando Johnson who dropped in 16 points and in the process became the school's all- time leading scorer as they won for the fourth time in the last five outings.
The Mustangs (15-14, 6-8) were paced by Dylan Royer with 14 points, followed by David Hanson and Will Taylor with 13 and 11 points, respectively, as the team bowed for the third time in as many games.
UCSB took control of the game in the first half, shooting 58.3 percent from the field and 60.0 percent behind the three-point line, but the squad led by only nine points at the break, 40-31.
In the second half Cal Poly made good on just 30.8 percent from the floor and that allowed the Gauchos to capture the eight-point win.
Johnson entered the night with 1,694 points in his career and needed just three to surpass Alex Harris (2004-08), knocking down a three-pointer less than four minutes into the meeting to take over the all-time scoring lead for the Gauchos, doing so in less than three full seasons.
