NCAA Game Summary - San Jose State at New Mexico State

Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Wendell McKines registered a double-double with 20 points and a game-high 15 rebounds as New Mexico State posted a 79-68 win over San Jose State in Western Athletic Conference action at the Pan American Center.

Also logging a double-double for the Aggies (22-8, 9-3 WAC) was Hamidu Rahman with 22 points and 10 boards, adding a game-high five blocked shots as the squad delivered a fifth straight victory. Hernst Laroche and Daniel Mullings accounted for 11 and 10 points, respectively, as well.

The Spartans (9-19, 1-11) were paced by Wil Carter with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Keith Shamburger chipped in 11 points and James Kinney 10 as they suffered a second straight loss.

NMSU wasted little time in asserting itself, shooting 51.9 percent from the floor and 4-of-8 behind the three-point line in the first half in order to take a 40-31 lead at the break.

After shooting only 38.7 percent from the field in the opening frame, SJSU dropped to 35.5 percent following the intermission and that allowed the Aggies to capture the double-digit win.

New Mexico State won the battle of the boards, 45-34, and that helped the hosts to overcome 14 turnovers on the night.
