GAMES NOTES: The Sacramento State Hornets will head on the road to face the Idaho State Bengals in the Big Sky Conference battle at Reed Gym.

These teams fought to a 68-67 decision earlier this season which went in favor of Idaho State. The Bengals now hold a 25-13 mark all-time against the Hornets.

Sacramento State has been a team of streaks this season on its way to a 9-18 overall record. The Hornets are currently riding a four-game losing streak which is the third time they have lost at least four straight this season. The current stretch comes after the Hornets won four straight earlier in the month. The Hornets are just 4-11 in conference play which is better than only Northern Arizona in the conference standings. This game will wrap up the regular season for Sacramento State.

Idaho State has not been as streaky a team but has still managed the same 9-18 overall mark while securing a 7-7 record in Big Sky action. The Bengals have dropped their last two games and four of the last five after a season long four game winning streak. The Bengals will end the regular season Tuesday against Eastern Washington.

Sacramento State got itself into a shootout last time out against Portland State but couldn't pull the game out on its home court as the Hornets fell 94-88. Sacramento State shot at a 50.8 percent clip which was just off the 53.6 percent pace set by Portland State. The Hornets were also outscored 21-14 from the charity stripe.

As a team, Sacramento State is scoring 66.9 points per game this season while allowing 69.2 for a scoring differential of -2.3. The Hornets are near the top of the conference in one category as they are third in the league in assists (14.0 apg). John Dickson (12.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg) is the teams leading scorer but went above and beyond in the teams loss against Portland State as the junior forward poured in 26 points which was a career-high. Dylan Garrity (8.2 ppg, 7.1 apg) has been arguably the more important player for the Hornets this season as he leads the conference in assists. He also put together a fantastic performance against the Vikings in scoring 18 points and handing out 13 assists in the losing effort. Jackson Carbajal (11.0 ppg) continued to close the season strong scoring 18 points on the heels of a career-high 24 points in the previous game. Joe Eberhard (11.0 ppg. 5.9 rpg) scored 12 points on Thursday and is the squads final player averaging in double figures this season.

Idaho State had four players in double figures and shot 52.7 percent from the floor but still couldn't capture a win, falling 85-77 to Eastern Washington on Thursday. The difference in the game came from the three point line where the Eagles outscored the Bengals 30-9.

The Bengals are a step behind Sacramento State in terms of scoring as they net the eighth most points per game (65.7) in the league while also shooting at a 42.2 percent clip. Defense has not been the squad's strong suit, as Idaho State is surrendering 72.7 points per contest.A trio of guards are the focal point of the Bengal offense. Senior Kenny McGowan (13.7 ppg) is the teams leading scorer on the stat sheet, followed by Chase Grabau (13.2 ppg) and Melvin Morgan (12.2 ppg). The three combined for 40 points and seven assists in the losing effort on Wednesday with Morgan the high scorer with 18 points. Grabau also contributes as the team's leading passer (3.3 apg) as well as the conference's second best player in terms of steals (1.9 spg). Andre Hatchett (7.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg) had his best performance of the season on Thursday scoring 17 points and coming a rebound short of a double-double. Abner Moreira (6.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg) has been the more consistent rebounder for the team this season.

With its prolific scoring trio in the backcourt and playing at home, Idaho State gets the nod in this one although with the stellar play of Garrity, Sacramento State should at least keep it close.
