Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - Rodney Cooper scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures as the Alabama Crimson Tide downed the Arkansas Razorbacks 79-68 in a Southeastern Conference bout at Bud Walton Arena.
Andrew Steele scored 15 and Trevor Releford and Nick Jacobs each added 14 for Alabama (18-9, 7-6 SEC) which has won three of its last four.
B.J. Young scored a game-high 21 points to lead Arkansas (17-11, 5-8). Rickey Scott added 12 and Mardracus Wade and Julysses Nobles each chipped in 11 for the Razorbacks who have lost five of their last six. Devonta Abron also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Both teams got off to hot starts with Alabama leading 45-41 at the end of the first half by shooting 58.6 percent from the floor including 6-of-8 from beyond the arc. Arkansas countered by connecting on 48.0 percent of its shots including 8-fo-11 from three point range.
Each team went 10-for-20 in the second half but Alabama held a 14-7 advantage from the free throw line to stretch its lead. Neither team hit a three pointer in the final twenty minutes
Alabama outrebounded Arkansas by a 28-25 margin and forced 18 Razorback turnovers.
