(Wednesday, February 22nd)

Final Score: Dayton 74, Duquesne 62

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Paul Williams paced a balanced Dayton attack with 18 points, as the Flyers pulled away in the second half for a 74-62 victory over Duquesne.

Matt Kavanaugh had 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Chris Johnson scored 13 for Dayton (17-10, 7-6 A-10), which was coming off an overtime loss at Xavier Saturday night. Josh Parker had 12 points and Kevin Dillard 11 for the Flyers, who also got 10 rebounds from Devin Oliver.

Duquesne, which won in Dayton earlier this month, 83-73, received 13 points from Mike Talley and 10 from B.J. Monteiro. T.J. McConnell contributed nine points and eight assists for the Dukes (15-12, 6-7), who struggled to a 10- of-27 shooting performance in the second half.

The Flyers held a 33-30 edge at the half, but the Dukes went on top by as many as three in the second stanza until the visitors took control with a surge in the final seven minutes.

Parker's jumper put Dayton up for good at 55-53 with 6:28 remaining. That was the beginning of a 13-3 spurt, finished by Johnson's three-pointer with 2:46 to go.

The Flyers, who went 14-of-27 from the field over the final 20 minutes, missed only two of their 16 foul shots and held a 41-24 rebounding advantage. They also overcame 20 turnovers, which led to 18 Duquesne points.
