Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Wil Carter and James Kinney each had 19 points to pace San Jose State to a 79-67 victory over Sacramento State in a BracketBuster pairing from The Nest.

Keith Shamburger tallied 15 points and eight assists for the Spartans (9-17), who won for the second time in three games. The visitors shot a sizzling 68.2 percent (15-of-22) in the second half, outscoring the Hornets by a 48-30 margin.

Jackson Carbajal netted 24 points for the Hornets (9-17), who lost their third in a row. John Dickson ended with 15 points, while Joe Eberhard and Dylan Garrity each scored 10 in defeat. Garrity also had 12 assists, but accounted for six of his team's 15 turnovers.

Sacramento State led 37-31 at the half and had its largest cushion at 46-34 with 16:05 left following a jumper from Eberhard. The Spartans responded with a 16-2 burst, going ahead on a Carter jumper inside 11 minutes to go.

It only got worse for the Hornets, who fell behind 69-59 with 5:48 left on a Kinney jumper. The hosts didn't make a serious challenge the rest of the way.
