Ogden, UT (Sports Network) - Scott Bamforth scored 19 points and Weber State held on for a 72-70 win over Texas-Arlington at the Dee Events Center.
UT-Arlington center Jordan Reves scored with four seconds remaining, and the Mavericks had a shot to win when LaMarcus Reed stole the ensuing inbounds pass by the midcourt line. Reed's desperation shot at the buzzer was off the mark, snapping the 16-game winning streak by the Mavericks.
Damian Lillard had 17 points, seven rebounds and as many assists for the Wildcats (22-4), who have won six in a row. Darin Mahoney had 13 rebounds and Byron Fulton 11 points for Weber State, which shot 56 percent from the field in the second half to escape with a win in this BracketBusters contest.
Reves scored 18 and Bo Ingram added 16 with both players pulling down 10 rebounds for the Mavericks (20-6), who suffered their first loss since Dec. 20 at Utah State. Reed also scored 16.
Fulton's three-ball expanded Weber State's lead to 60-44 with 9;11 left before UT-Arlington rallied by scoring the next 11 points.
Weber State, which was behind 27-24 at the half, made 9-of-28 shots in the opening 20 minutes.
The Wildcats went 14-of-34 from three-point range.
