NCAA Game Summary - Tulane at Texas-El Paso

Final Score: Texas-El Paso 54, Tulane 52 (OT)

El Paso, TX (Sports Network) - A John Bohannon three-point play with 14 seconds to play in overtime put the Texas El-Paso Miners ahead for the good as they defeated the Tulane Green Wave 54-52 in Conference USA action at Don Haskins Center.

Michael Perez scored 15 points to pace the Miners (12-13, 5-6 C-USA) and Bohannon ripped down 10 rebounds.

For Tulane (15-9, 3-7), Ricky Tarrant and Jordan Callahan each tallied 19 points. The Green Wave have now lost three of their last four.

Though Tulane out-shot UTEP from the field in the first half 45 percent to 27.3 percent, the Miners took a 23-22 lead into halftime behind 8-of-11 shooting from the free throw line. The Green Wave went just 1-of-7 from the stripe in the frame.

Tulane took control early in the second half and led by as many as seven, 39-32, with 9:22 to play. UTEP clawed its way back in it however and with 1:20 left tied the game at 48-48 on a Jacques Streeter layup. Both teams went scoreless for the rest of regulation to force overtime.

In the extra session, Tulane took a 52-51 lead with 28 seconds left on a pair of Tarrant free throws, but Bohannon answered on the next possession with the jumper and foul shot to give the Miners the win.

UTEP scored 22 points off of 16 Tulane turnovers.
