NCAA Game Summary - Elon at Samford

Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Tyler Hood's 20 points paced four players in double figures as the Samford Bulldogs downed the Elon Phoenix 87-78 in Southern Confer4ence action at the Pete Hanna Center.
Drew Windler and Raijon Kelly added 16 points each for the Bulldogs (10-15, 7-7 SoCon) who have won three of their last four. Jeffrey Merritt and Will Cook provided 11 points each. Cook grabbed seven rebounds while Merritt dealt out nine assists.
Jack Isenbarger's 21 points paced Elon (13-12, 8-6). Brett Ervin finished with 19 points, Drew Spradlin 14 and Sebastian Koch 10. Ervin and Ryley Beaumont each collected seven boards, while Koch dealt out seven assists.
Samford led 40-30 at halftime after shooting an impressive 60 percent from the floor. Elon was just 10-of-29 from the field. The Bulldogs led by as many as 14.
Elon got within three on two occasions in the second half, the last when it cut the deficit to 72-69 with 4:47 left but were never able to take a lead.
Samford was 12-of-27 from beyond the arc, while the Phoenix was 14-of-27.
