Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - A'uston Calhoun tallied 20 points and 12 rebounds, as the Bowling Green Falcons rallied for a 66-63 win over Toledo in a Mid-American Conference tilt at the Stroh Center.
Scott Thomas scored a game-high 21 points and had four steals to help the Falcons (13-11, 7-4 MAC) notch their fourth straight win in the head-to-head series. Dee Brown scored all 11 of his points in the second half.
Julius Brown and Curtis Dennis scored 17 apiece to pace the Rockets (11-14, 3-8). Rian Pearson, the MAC's leading scorer, finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, though he also turned the ball over five times.
Bowling Green jumped out to an early seven-point lead, but Toledo used a 12-0 run to turn a 16-13 deficit into a 25-16 lead with just under four minutes to play until halftime. The Rockets led 29-22 at the break as they shot 50 percent from the floor and made 5-of-9 three-pointers in the first half, compared to 34.4-percent shooting and an 0-of-7 effort from beyond the arc by the Falcons.
The Falcons trailed by as many as 13 in the second half, but they went on a 17-5 run to cut the deficit to one with 12:20 to play. They took the lead for good on a layup by Thomas with 2:13 remaining. Bowling Green managed to hang on for the win despite going just 6-of-18 at the foul line in the second half, while the Rockets buried 7-of-10 threes after halftime.
Bowling Green held a 40-27 rebounding advantage for the game, including a commanding 21-6 edge on the offensive glass. All of those offensive boards led to a key 21-10 advantage for the Falcons in second-chance points.
