Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Alan Jones scored a game-high 18 points off the bench as the Troy Trojans captured an 83-77 win over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Sun Belt Conference play at Sartain Hall.
Also scoring in double figures for the Trojans (8-15, 3-9 Sun Belt), as they snapped a four-game slide, were Emil Jones with 16 points, to go along with nine rebounds, followed by Justin Wright and Will Weathers with 12 points each and Tim Owens 10 in the triumph.
The Hilltoppers (8-17, 4-8), losers of two straight, were paced by T.J. Price with 17 points and Kahlil McDonald who tallied 16 off the bench as each player shot 4-of-8 behind the three-point line. Nigel Snipes posted 12 points and Jamal Crook 10 to go along with six boards and five assists in the setback.
WKU shot 50 percent across the board in the first half, hitting on 6-of-12 behind the three-point line and 3-of-6 at the charity stripe, en route to a 39-30 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Hilltoppers made good on just 32.4 percent from the floor and 3-of-14 behind the three-point line, allowing the hosts to battle back with 15-of-18 at the charity stripe, on the way to the six-point win.
The difference in the meeting came at the free-throw line where the Trojans outscored WKU by a 22-16 margin.
