Stockton, CA (Sports Network) - Casper Ware exploded for a career-high 33 points as Long Beach State toppled Pacific 74-66 in a Big West Conference matchup at the Spanos Center.
T.J. Robinson had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Eugene Phelps chipped in 11 for Long Beach State (18-6, 11-0 Big West) which remains perfect in conference action in winning its 11th straight.
Lorenzo McCloud put in 16 for Pacific (9-14, 5-6) with Ross Rivera adding 10 off the bench. The Tigers had won back-to-back games entering play .
Pacific held a slim advantage at the half leading 34-23 by going 14-of-32 from the floor while Long Beach State shot a better percentage but nailed the same number of shots by going 14-of-25. The Tigers lead came from a 12-9 edge from the three point line.
In the second half the 49ers outscored Pacific 21-9 from three point range and 13-5 from the free throw line and led by as many as 11 on its way to the win.
Long Beach State had the edge on the boards outrebounding the Tigers 43-28. Pacific lost despite forcing 15 49er turnovers and committing only five as a team.
