Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Chehales Tapscott recorded an impressive double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Portland State Vikings to a 67-54 victory over the Idaho State Bengals in Big Sky Conference action at Holt Arena.
Charles Odum scored a team-high 18 points for the Vikings (12-12, 6-6 Big Sky) as they won their second in a row. Renado Parker added 11 points and Nate Lozeau chipped in 10 points.
Melvin Morgan paced Idaho State (8-16, 6-6) with 18 points while Kenny McGowen netted 13 points. Abner Moreira had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Portland State took a 29-20 lead into halftime after it shot 45.8 percent from the floor in the opening period. The Bengals were able to make only 33.3 percent of their field goals in the first half.
Idaho State improved after the break, and shot 40 percent from the field in the second half. The Vikings were able to extend their advantage by converting 13-of-15 from the charity stripe in the final 20 minutes.
Portland State won despite making only 1-of-14 from beyond the arc in the contest.
