Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Nori Johnson scored a game-high 17 points to pace the College of Charleston to a 62-58 win over Western Carolina in Southern Conference action at TD Arena.
Antwaine Wiggins totaled 15 points and Andrew Lawrence chipped in 12 points and six assists. Adjehi Baru had nine points and 17 rebounds for the Cougars (15-10, 7-7 SoCon), who have won three of their last four games. They won despite shooting a season-low 27.1 percent from the floor (16-of-59).
Brandon Boggs had 15 points for the Catamounts (10-16, 4-9), who lost for the sixth time in seven contests. Keaton Cole added 12 points and Trey Sumler 11 in defeat.
Western Carolina led 28-24 at the half on the strength of great defense, as the Catamounts held the Cougars to 6-of-30 shooting over the first 20 minutes.
The College of Charleston turned the tables on the Catamounts in the second half. The visitors went 12-of-37 from the floor in the last period. Additionally, the Cougars made 22 foul shots compared to just six for the Catamounts in the game.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 17-7 in the all-time series with Western Carolina. They have won four of the last six meetings between the two schools.
