Cheney, WA (Sports Network) - Joe Eberhard scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds as Sacramento State held off a late surge from Eastern Washington to take a 75-71 victory in Big Sky action at Reese Court.
Sacramento State (8-14, 3-8 Big Sky) got 20 off the bench from John Dickson and Dylan Garrity chipped in 12 points and handed out five assists. The Hornets win comes after losses in back-to-back games.
Cliff Ederaine had a 15 point, 18 rebound double-double and Cliff Colimon poured in 25 points for Eastern Washington (11-13, 5-6) which had won its previous two. The 18 rebounds were a career-high for Ederaine.
Sacramento State broke out to a 40-21 lead at the break by shooting an even 50.0 percent from the floor and limiting Eastern Washington just six field goals and 26.1 percent shooting.
In the second half the Eagles cut into the Hornets lead by shooting 50.0 percent. The Eagles cut the Hornets lead to as little as two three times in the last minute but the Hornets went 10-of-12 from the free throw line down the stretch to hold on for the victory.
Eastern Washington was the better team on the glass despite the loss outrebounding Sacramento State 39-36.
