Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Jordan Clarkson scored 21 points as he helped lead the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 79-70 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd in Conference USA action at the Reynolds Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Golden Hurricane (14-9, 7-2 C-USA) were Steven Idlet and Tim Peete with 16 and 14 points, respectively, both in a reserve role as the team won its seventh in a row.
The Herd (14-9, 5-4) was paced by Damier Pitts and DeAndre Kane who both tallied 21 points, while Dennis Tinnon tacked on 12 and nine boards as the team bowed for the fifth time in six games.
Marshall led by a basket early in the first half, but the team ended up shooting just 9-of-25 from the floor in the period and that allowed Tulsa to move out to a 37-30 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Herd tried to keep up, but with the Golden Hurricane knocking down 58.3 percent from the floor, the hosts were well on their way to the win.
In a game that experienced 10 ties and just as many lead changes, Tulsa was able to fight through 15 turnovers by shooting 55.6 percent from the field on the night.
