Bozeman, MT (Sports Network) - A Kenny McGowen layup with 10 seconds to play in the extra frame lifted the Idaho State Bengals to a 87-86 overtime win over the Montana State Bobcats in Big Sky Conference action at Worthington Arena.
McGowen finished with 30 points on 9-of-18 from the floor and 7-of-14 from three-point range for Idaho State (8-14, 6-4 Big Sky). Chase Grabau scored 16 points, Adner Moreira added 14 points, and Andre Hatchett chipped in 12 for the Bengals, who have won four straight.
For Montana State (11-10, 6-4), Xavier Blount scored 24 and Christian Moon netted 22. Jourdain Allou notched a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Tre Johnson pitched in 11 points and Rod Singleton recorded 10 points and seven assists.
Idaho State took a comfortable 41-30 lead into halftime behind 53.1 percent shooting. Montana State connected on just 40 percent of its field goals in the half.
The Bobcats clawed their way back into the game in the second half, shooting 44.4 percent from the field and holding the Bengals to just 30.8 percent. Though Montana State lead 75-70 with 2:48 left in regulation, Idaho State ripped off seven straight points to take a 77-75 lead with 16 seconds to go. In its final possession, Johnson threw down a dunk in the waning seconds for Montana State to force overtime.
In the extra period, Montana State went up 86-85 on an Allou free throw with 24 seconds left only for Idaho State to answer with McGowen's go-ahead bucket seconds later. One last shot went unanswered for the Bobcats as the Bengals held on to win.
Montana State committed 15 turnovers to Idaho State's 10.
