Mobile, AL (Sports Network) - Mychal Ammons posted a game-high 18 points and collected nine rebounds to lead the South Alabama Jaguars to a 65-56 win over the Florida Atlantic Owls in a Sun Belt Conference battle at the Mitchell Center.
Freddie Goldstein added 14 points in the win for South Alabama (12-9, 4-6 SBC), while Antoine Lundy finished with 10 points and Augustine Rubit collected a game-high 11 boards.
The duo of Shavar Richardson and Greg Gantt tallied 13 points apiece to lead the way for FAU (9-13, 5-4).
The Owls were limited to just 32.0 percent shooting from the floor during the opening stanza, but a 15-of-19 effort at the charity stripe provided FAU with a 32-26 lead heading into the break.
In the second half, however, the Jaguars once again held FAU to 32.0 percent shooting from the field and shot at a respectable 44.4 percent pace themselves to earn a nine-point verdict.
The Jaguars won the battle of the boards by a 38-30 margin.
