NCAA Game Summary - Duquesne at Dayton

Akron, OH (Sports Network) - B.J. Monteiro poured in 20 points to push Duquesne to an 83-73 victory over Dayton in Atlantic-10 action.

Mike Talley ended with 15 points and Eric Evans 12 for the Dukes (13-9, 4-4 A-10), who won for just the sixth time in 32 encounters in games played at Dayton. Jerry Jones totaled 10 points for Duquesne, which snapped a two-game skid.

The Dukes shot a sizzling 61.3 percent (19-of-31) in the first half and held on down the stretch after a strong run midway through the second stanza.

Kevin Dillard scored 22 and had seven assists for the Flyers (14-8, 4-4), who have lost a season-high three in a row. Matt Kavanaugh contributed 17 points and six rebounds.

On the strength of Duquesne's outstanding first half, the Dukes led by as many as 16 points in the period before taking a 49-40 lead into the locker room. Dayton wasn't too shabby either, as the Flyers went 15-of-27 from the field over the opening 20 minutes.

A pair of free throws from Chris Johnson briefly gave Dayton a 57-55 lead with 10:09 remaining, but Duquesne responded with a 13-2 burst, capped by Andre Marhold's layup with 6:13 to go. Dayton didn't get closer than four the rest of the way.
