Greenville, SC (Sports Network) - Brad Loesing finished with 18 points and eight assists as the Wofford Terriers defeated the College of Charleston Cougars, 68-59, in a Southern Conference battle at the TD Bank Arena.
Karl Cochran added 15 points for the Terriers (14-8, 7-3 SoCon), while Kevin Giltner chipped in 13 points.
The Cougars (12-9, 4-6) were led by Trent Wiedeman's 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Antwaine Wiggins finished with 14 points and Nori Johnson scored 13 points. Andrew Lawrence dished out a team-high eight assists in the losing effort.
Wofford used a 9-0 run early in the first half to build an early lead, which grew to as many as 12 points, as the Terriers took a 28-19 lead into halftime. Wofford shot a strong 61.9 percent from the field in the first half, while holding Charleston to just 20.7 percent shooting.
The Cougars heated up after the break, connecting on 55.2 percent of their field goals in the second period, including 6-of-13 from three-point range. The Terriers cooled off, shooting 46.7 percent, but did hit on 5-of-13 from three-point range. The Terriers led comfortably for most of the second half, but the Cougars were able to cut their deficit to just five points on several occasions late in the contest, the last at 54-49 with 3:56 to play, but they got no closer and held on to win for the fifth time in a row and hand Charleston their fourth-straight loss.
Wofford had a 34-29 rebounding edge in the contest. Wofford also outscored Charleston, 28-26, in the paint.
