Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Justin Wright had 18 points and was a rebound short of a double-double as Troy blew out Louisiana-Monroe, 91-63, in a Sun Belt conference tussle from Trojan Arena.
Will Weathers had a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists for Troy (7-11, 2-5 Sun Belt) which had lost six of seven entering play. Emil Jones added 17 and R.J. Scott scored all 16 of his points off the bench for the Trojans.
Steven McClellan led all Louisiana-Monroe (2-19, 1-7) scorers with 14. Charles Winborne put in 11 as well for the Warhawks who have dropped four straight.
Troy led 42-26 at intermission behind a 50.0 percent shooting performance including 5-of-18 from three point range in the first half. Louisiana-Monroe went made just 36.7 percent of its field goal attempts and was 3-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Troy extended its lead in the second half shooting a blistering 63.0 percent from the floor and an incredible 10-of-14 from three point range. Louisiana-Monroe netted 45.5 percent of its shots in the second period but was just 3-of-11 from behind the three point line.
Troy out rebounded Louisiana-Monroe by a 38-28 margin. Both teams took relatively good care of the ball with the Trojans turning the ball over 10 times and the Warhawks only eight times.
